About Commit

Commit is the first professional network founded by software developers that puts the career needs of Startup Engineers first. We’re building a collaborative, remote community with life-long peer-to-peer support, personalized career development, and unique access to startup opportunities.

We recently raised $6 million in our pursuit of changing the workplace forever. Now, we’re looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial marketing leader to engage and expand our audience.

Why we need you

Our audience is startup engineers. Our audience wants to make an impact. Our audience loves diving into challenging technical problems.

Our audience may also think that what Commit is promising is too good to be true.

As Commit’s Director, Developer Marketing reporting directly to the CEO, you will effectively and genuinely understand and connect with our audience. You’ll be tasked with growing our brand and communications channels into a thriving community of startup engineers.

What you can do

  • You can confidently establish and manage highly effective marketing campaigns to reach and grow a technical audience.
    • You may have been at a tech company that has scaled from $1 million to $10 million in ARR earlier in your career. Or you may have previous developer marketing experience or worked in SaaS marketing for at least a few years. Wherever your experience comes from, you know you can take on the challenge of marketing to a knowledgeable audience.
    • You can establish campaigns that drive marketing qualified leads and deliver through efficient project management. You have led enough campaigns that you know what a successful campaign looks like, how to plan for it, and how to execute it well.
  • You can lead and manage a marketing team of diverse talent.
    • You are able to develop a positive and thriving remote-work culture on the team that embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.
    • You have likely managed team members previously and are able to mentor and coach to support the growth of your team members.
  • You can own Commit’s unique narrative and collaborate with contributors across the organization for content creation.
    • You are able to be the brand steward across channels, working closely with internal stakeholders and our external PR agency to ensure consistency and clarity of message.
    • You can identify and discover organic content ideas from your technical colleagues as they work out loud and can lead or support the content creation process, as needed.
    • You can optimize the performance of our marketing channels, which include events, social media, blog, and website.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Marketing qualified leads
  • Performance of marketing channels and campaigns
  • Oversight of third-party vendors (PR agency, consultants, and contractors)

Who you are

  • You are creative and ambitious with a learner’s mindset.
    • You know how to think outside of the box, and you’re ready to help build a community unlike any other! You also aren’t afraid of trying new things — putting the pedal to the metal when it works, and iterating on it when it doesn’t.
    • You thrive on constant development and learning through others, and you’re eager to learn more about being a better leader and a marketer.
  • You’re highly detail-oriented. You can manage multiple priorities today, while keeping an eye on what’s coming.
  • You’re an all-rounder. You are willing and able to help with all aspects of the Marketing pipeline at Commit. Sometimes we will also need all hands on deck to solve problems unrelated to Growth, and you’ll be ready
  • You are excited about working remotely & asynchronously. You’re pumped about the flexibility to work from wherever is best for you right now (as long as you can work within North American time zones) and in playing a vital role at Commit in defining the future of work.

What we offer you

  • Base salary of $90-120K depending on experience
  • Health + Dental benefits coverage
  • 3 weeks vacation + 12 recognized holidays + an allowance for personal days
  • Equipment to work from home and a work from home allowance
  • An inclusive and diverse work environment that promotes working out loud as one of its key operating principles

Our Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:

As an early-stage startup, we know it’s critical to build inclusive processes as a part of our foundation. In our shortlist (our top 5 candidates), we are committed to having a minimum of 3 candidates who self-identify as women and/or 3 candidates who are part of underrepresented minority groups.
